8th Series Thai banknotes
The United State bombed Hiroshima with the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945, three days later Nagasaki was bombed too, thus ending the Greater East Asia War. The government tried to place new orders for banknotes from Thomas de la Rue, but the company had been damaged during the war and unable to accept these orders. The Thai government thus turned to the U.S. government for assistance. The U.S. Bureau of Engraveing and Printing prepared the printing plates and the Tudor Press Inc. did the actual printing.
Banknotes, 8th Series, came in five denominations, 1 Baht, 5 Baht, 10 Baht, 20 Baht and 100 Baht.
