7th Series Thai banknotes
|
|
In 1945 when World War II was coming to an end, the Allies heavily attacked Japanese transports of goods and weapons so as to cut off the delivery of supplies. Thus, notes printed in Japan could not be sent to Thailand. The Royal Thai Survey Department and the Naval Hydrographic Department could not print the requested number of notes during working hours because they had to avoid being bombed by the Allies. The Bank of Thailand decided to commission governmental printing presses as well as suitable private ones to printe notes. Banknotes, 7th Series, came in four denominations, 1 Baht, 5 Baht, 10 Baht, and 50 Baht. |

Banknotes, Special Series
During World War II, some banknotes outside the regular series of notes were issued. However, these notes were finally used in the same manner as those normally circulated. These notes had different characteristics, so they do not fit into any particular type.
They were printed in England and Indonesia and by the Royal Thai Survey Department. Altogether there were five types and four denominations. |
