6th Series Thai banknotes
During World War II, the demand for the circulation of new banknotes by the Thai and Japanese governments increased. This was enforced by the fact that notes printed in Thailand were made from low quality paper so they quickly worn out. The printing Bureau of Japan and the Royal Thai Survey Department attempted to increase the quantity but could not fulfil the demand. The Bank of Thailand thus commissioned the Naval Hydrographic Department to carry out additional printing.
